Artist Statement

My work investigates the metamorphosis of different bodies large and small, and the infinite condition of conflict matter faces in the act of achieving a state of balance. I view a substance in transition, as an event where one is undergoing an act of renewal. The involuntary materialization and dematerialization obliterates the original time, place, and state, disorienting the boundaries of form and space. As a result, a disparity is created between the objectification performed by mechanical decomposition of one substance into parts, and the theatrics that can be interpreted by their unity. In my work, the chronology between the states of potential and kinetic evolution are broken down, and separated into series to examine the visual altercation of form. With a series, I am able to mimic the stages of a system in process and presentation. The accumulation of action and form creates an image where alternate components whether marks, colors, images, or separate works are repeated to build a larger body or picture. With paint, print, photo, film, and non-traditional mediums, I manipulate two-dimensional tools with a physical approach, to experience the visceral application through direct contact with the material.
